All praises and thanks to Allah Almighty for giving me the opportunity and facility to compile this book. Can one book cover all the topics of Psychology mentioned in thenew syllabus of CSS? This was the question I had in mind while designing to compile this text. And I am confident that with the publication of this book the primary problems of the aspiring students i.e. finding the relevant and authentic material, purchasing and studying a large number of expensive foreign books will be solved.
This book works to meet these goals by presenting concise, straight-forward concepts, definitions, key terms, illustrations and theories strictly according to the new syllabus of CSS. No unnecessary material is included in this book. It is to make sure that the aspirants of CSS could prepare for the examination easily and efficiently. I wish to express my gratitude to Mr Adeel Niaz of IBD Press whose love, sincerity and determination to spread the knowledge is remarkable. I am also thankful to Mr Sheraz, Mr Nisar Ali, Ansar Hafeez and Afzal Yousaf Ianjua of IBD Press whose skills in shaping the book are marvelous. All suggestions and comments that may enhance the utility and authenticity of book shall be entertained.
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has recently introduced substantial Changes to syllabi for CSS exam 2019, and onwards. Like that of all other subjects, the syllabus or Pakistan Affairs has also changed and now a major part of it has been dedicated to Current Affairs of Pakistan. This has put CSS aspirants in a quandary as to how and from where to Prepare for this crucial paper. So keeping in view the needs of the aspirants, Jahangir group of Publications has published this book entitled “To the Point Pakistan Affairs”.
The book has been designed and written to meet the expanding requirements of the aspirants. We have worked really hard to bring this volume as early as we could for the greater benefit of the aspirants. Actually, when such sudden, yet substantial, changes are introduced to the syllabus, generally such books are published hurriedly that sometimes miss many important topics or these ‘quick’ editions are replete with errors. Unlike most books in the market, ample time has been given to make this book highly informative and student-friendly and a special care has been given to make it simple, easy and error free. Moreover, a special effort has been made to make the contents of the book relevant, authentic, up-to-date and to-the-point.This book is also immensely useful for various other competitive examinations conducted by federal and provincial public service commissions. Although extreme care has been taken to make this book error-free, if you find any mistake, please let us know. All constructive comments, suggestions from the readers to improve the book will be highly welcomed.
A Short History of the World is a short and easy-to-read history book that relates the history of our world from the Big Bang to the present day. It assumes no prior knowledge of past events and 32 maps have been especially drawn to give the reader a better understanding of where events occurred.
The author chooses what he sees as the most important empires and events and links them to make a flowing narrative as opposed to a dry series of facts. Going through history, we learn how and when empires and nation states developed, how the major religions affected world history and the devastation they caused, how the Muslims and Chinese led development for many centuries, how the great explorers changed world history and how we finally came to understand the size of the planet on which we live.
The book’s purpose is not to come up with any ground-breaking new historical theories. Instead it aims to give a broad overview of the key events so that non-historians will feel less embarrassed about their lack of historical knowledge when discussing the past. The result is a history book that is reassuringly epic in scope but refreshingly short in length – an excellent place to start to bring your knowledge of world history up to scratch!
The book is also available as an ebook on Amazon and the Apple iBookstore.

In Bryson’s biggest book, he confronts his greatest challenge: to understand—and, if possible, answer—the oldest, biggest questions we have posed about the universe and ourselves. Taking as territory everything from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization, Bryson seeks to understand how we got from there being nothing at all to there being us. To that end, he has attached himself to a host of the world’s most advanced (and often obsessed) archaeologists, anthropologists, and mathematicians, travelling to their offices, laboratories, and field camps. He has read (or tried to read) their books, pestered them with questions, apprenticed himself to their powerful minds. A Short History of Nearly Everything is the record of this quest, and it is a sometimes profound, sometimes funny, and always supremely clear and entertaining adventure in the realms of human knowledge, as only Bill Bryson can render it. Science has never been more involving or entertaining.
